Why we’re a market leader

Until 1836 the Ampersand symbol (&) was the 27th letter of the alphabet — 180 years later it is now used to connect people with people, people with brands, & people with possibility.

Before we began our contacts told us they are frustrated by the lack of innovation, evolution and value orientated services across our industry. We responded.

Ampersand was established in August 2008 by a team of senior executive recruitment & search leaders who recognised a gap in the market. There was a need for a specialist firm that provided the level of service, market expertise and consulting capability that challenged the large volume based, generalist firms. Ampersand is that solution offering a bespoke, high-touch, high-knowledge approach.

We launched with Ampersand Executive in Melbourne, shortly followed by expansion through organic growth to Sydney and more recently Singapore, culminating the realisation of our Asia Pacific growth vision.

We have successfully launched Ampersand Search as a compelling alternative to more historic search practices with market penetration on both national and global scales.

Recently, we pioneered the third and critical pillar to our customer value proposition, Ampersand AdvisoryThe Leadership Agenda. This bolsters our competitive advantage as an Asia Pacific leader in executive talent acquisition, search and leadership optimisation.

Within two years of launching we won ‘Best Start-up Agency ‘ at the Recruitment Excellence Awards.

Our visual identity

In 2010, we re-branded ourselves to reflect our growing business and standing in the marketplace. And what better way to represent our personal approach than through the use of a signature and accompanying seal. These are our promises of service quality and authenticity and represent our bespoke approach to the needs of our clients, candidates and partners.

The signature itself is an energetic, hand-drawn flourish deliberately hand-crafted by the founding members of the Ampersand business. It represents the human touch — we make everything personal.

We’ve kept the & symbol as a secondary element for use inside the seals, and as part of a decorative pattern. Along with our colour palette these form an identity that matches Ampersand’s continued enthusiasm and approach to innovation in the recruitment, search and advisory industry.
